The Yi Jing (I Ching) is the foundation stone of a notable style of feng shui known as Yuen Hom (Xuan Kong). The extremely powerful Chue Style Yuen Hom Feng Shui involves a detailed analysis of the hexagrams that encompass every aspect of life.
The four articles in this series record the history of the Chue Lineage, which has been the inspiration for Imperial Yi Jing. The first article is mainly historical in flavour and includes information that’s been passed down through the centuries in the traditional manner, by word of mouth. The article begins with the Zhou Dynasty (c 1027-221 BCE) and reaches the Cultural Revolution of the mid-twentieth century. Taoist Great Grand Master Chue Yen is introduced here, and his unique story is continued throughout the series. The second and third articles contain many of the recollections of his only student, Grand Master Chue Yan Chan Kun Wah, and describe the challenges and achievements of becoming a feng shui master. In the fourth article you’ll find more of Grand Master Chan’s and Great Grand Master Chue Yen’s reminiscences, with tales of ghostly possession, ancestral spirits, poisonous chi and more.
These true stories have been passed on by Grand Master Chan to his students, and with his agreement I’m sharing them with you. I hope that you’ll enjoy reading them, and that they’ll play a part in bringing an appreciation of genuine feng shui to a 21st century audience.

I pass along the valley unseen
And enter the brocade garden.
Pear boughs frame the distant mountains;
The path is carpeted with fading petals.
Invisible, I approach the familiar pool,
My shoulders brushed by swaying willow,
Soft footprints dark on dew-beaded moss.
A dragonfly nets sunlight with rainbow wings,
A warming breeze teases fragrance from the flowers.
The backdrop of silent peaks remembers me
Through two thousand winters’ snow.
Beyond the maple grove a temple bell tolls,
Muffled by the mist-draped slopes.
This mirage at clouds’ end is my origin:
I return to it in the season of falling blossom.
